How to Prevent The Leading Cause of Skin Damage and Pre-Mature Aging

Alright we all know we have to be careful in the sun but did you know that the sun is the main cause of premature aging and wrinkles? The UV rays break down collagen and elastin fibres - the protein that gives structure to our skin and gives our skin elasticity. It also increases free radicals that damage our cells.

We all know we need the sun to create Vitamin D but we also need to know how to protect it.

A few ways to protect your skin this summer:

1. Wear a broad spectrum mineral based sunscreen with zinc oxide or titanium dioxide. Mineral sunscreens sit on the top of the skin and reflect the suns rays away from the skin. I also recommend using a moisturizer daily with SPF, even if you aren't out at the beach you are still getting sun when you least expect it.

2. Avoid being in the sun between the warmest hours of the day.

3. Wear a hat and sunglasses when out in the sun. This will help to prevent those lovely crow's feet you get from squinting.
