Detoxing for Glowing Skin!

Why do I need to detox you ask?  Well here is something to really think about.  We shower daily and we brush our teeth daily (well most of us anyways) and we will continue to do these rituals daily for the rest of our lives.  If we do this regularly then why would we not clean the inside of our body?

Think of your body as a bathtub.  For your entire life think of all the toxins going in, the processed food we eat, the pollution in the air we breath, the hormone disruptors in the plastic water bottle that we drink out of regularly, body products that are full of ingredients that aren't ever meant to be on our skin and cleaning products that are doing more damage than good.  These all build up and if there are more toxins going in then the bathtub will overflow (in other words your liver won't be able to keep up).  Your body is trying to get rid of these toxins and it will do so by pushing them out through the skin causing breakouts and skin, issues, inflammation, digestive issues and much more.

This week I dug out my ionic foot detox machine which has been collecting dust for months and have used it 4 times so far this week.  My skin has become more clear and smooth, have more energy and I don't feel as inflamed as usual clearly I needed a good detox.

Now I know that the majority of people don't have a detox machine but there are many other ways to support your natural detoxification process without having to buy shakes, take pills or follow a strict diet.  It's all about reducing the amount of toxins that go and and increasing the amount of toxins going out and you will notice that small changes can yield big results.

1.  Start your morning off with warm water with lemon, the lemon although it tastes acidic it actually has an alkaline effect on the body.   There is also an antioxidant in lemons that helps to activate enzymes in the liver (which we all know is the detoxification organ so we want to make sure the liver is always functioning optimally).

2. Watch what you are putting on your body and what products you are using?  Did you know that it takes only seconds for what you apply to your skin to be absorbed into your bloodstream?  Choose more natural and safe alternatives.

3. When buying food buy organic as much as possible.  If there are pesticides being used on your food to kill bugs then what do you think it is doing to your body?

4.  DRINK YOUR WATER!!  I cannot stress the importance of this.  I always carry a water bottle with me everywhere I go (I don't drink much else and often I feel like i'm the only one in the world who has never had a cup of coffee) I will often add in some lemons or cucumber and mint to my bottle to add some flavour but also to add additional detoxing benefits.
