Age-Defying Smoothie Bowl

I just love having smoothies and smoothie bowls such as this one for breakfast. It's a great way to load up on so many nutrients you likely wouldn't get otherwise and it's a great way to start the day.

I made this from scratch with some of my favourite skin loving nutrients that help support and firm the skin.

As we age our collagen production slows which isn't good as this is what gives our skin it's structure and firmness. Thankfully there are ways to increase your collagen thanks to vitamin C and collagen powders.

Vitamin C - Is a vital skin nutrient as it's needed for collagen synthesis.

Fibre - Helps control blood sugar and keep your bowels moving.

Omega 3 - Reduces inflammation and wrinkles and nourishes the skin

Copper - Also needed for collagen production. Lack of copper can lead to more grey hair

Manganese - Antioxidant to help fight free radicals

Collagen - Helps to strengthen and firm the skin therefore reducing wrinkles.

  • 1 cup frozen berries

  • 1/2 banana

  • 1 cup unsweetened almond milk

  • 1/2 avocado

  • 1 tbsp goji powder

  • 2 scoops collagen powder*

  • 2 scoops vanilla protein*

  • 1 tbsp hemp seeds

  • 1 tbsp flax seeds

  • 1 tbsp lemon juice

Blend together and top with:

  • Coconut flakes

  • Pomegranate seeds

  • Blueberries

  • Almonds (slivered)

  • Strawberries

*Depending on the type of collagen and protein powder you use this recipe can be vegan.
